About

Sonja Engdahl is a collage artist living and working in Boston Massachusetts. She started cutting things up as soon as she was old enough to hold a pair of scissors, and she hasn’t stopped since. Her work has been featured at Projekt30 gallery online and at AS220 gallery in Providence.

Amazingly enough, Rhode Island is the furthest south that Sonja has managed to live, despite her love of summer. She was born in Vermont, went to college in Amherst MA (Hampshire College), and spent a year in Iceland.Sonja’s works to create a narrative feeling - each piece is a snapshot of a larger imagined story, some realistic, and some dreamlike. Her influences include Sabrina Ward Harrison, Hannah Hoch, and Frida Kahlo.

[ This is my public art blog, chronicling my projects, other artists that I find interesting, and the occasional octopus. I also like books and thinking too much. ]

Currently, my collage portfolio can be found online here

Trying to figure out how to contact you, so sorry to do it here. I was looking through a discusion on Metatag about the state Easter eggs. You said the Vermont egg dissapointed you because it didn’t seem to represent anything stately (ie antlers etc.) I hope it makes you feel better to know that the egg is an interpretation of Champ the monster of Lake Champlain. You can’t tell from the one sided photo. If you would like to see more sides of the egg, check out my web site and there are many pics in the gallery.

The Octopus is my favorite animal, I paint them too! You should also check out the art work of Nathan Tersteeg.
